I'm Hugo Burd. I'm a programmer, but I do other stuff too. This site is mostly dedicated to things I like or things I'm proud of.

Game jams
I've been doing game jams for 10 years now and interestingly I've covered a lot of different technologies, from Flash (RIP) to HTML/JS to Java to C++ to Unity.
These are my recent submissions, which are all semi-polished, playable games:
-
Hoarding Simulator
Ludum Dare 54 (2023), 72 hours, theme "Limited space"
This is a highly detailed simulation of my cycle of buying used synthesizers and then trying to fit them into my house. I think it's the most success I've had with a unique game concept. This was a team effort with Byron Kontou, Sebastian Andric and Liam Mansfield.
-
Dolphin Dive
Brackey's Gam Jam 2023.2, 1 week, theme "Dive deeper"
This is by far the hardest I've worked on any game jam, and I think it resulted in the most polished and cohesive game I've ever made. This was a team effort with Derek Bell.
-
BaraRun
Ludum Dare 50 (2022), 72 hours, theme "Delay the inevitable"
An endless runner with procedurally generated levels, a grappling hook, a capybara and a banger soundtrack. Nothing revolutionary, but fun nonetheless. This was a team effort with Derek Bell.
-
Otter Wilds
Game Off 2021, 1 month, theme "Bug"
A puzzle game about carefully manipulating the movement of enemies. The puzzles were a success, as we ended placing 20th in the "Game Design" category out of 514 entries. This was a team effort with Derek Bell.
Random tech demos
Here's a 2D physics demo I wrote from scratch in C++ and compiled to WebAssembly to run in the browser.Music
I have too many synths, and sometimes I make music with them.
